Lubbock is already connected to ERCOT and will officially become deregulated in October 2023. Customers will be able to shop for providers from July to mid-September 2023. If you have not chosen a retail energy provider by then, you will be sent to a default provider.
Electricity and energy prices fluctuate like every other commodity depending on a number of different factors based largely on supply and demand. Historically, the Texas deregulated energy market has some of the lowest per kilowatt-hour (kWh) electricity prices in the nation which is why it makes sense to allow WTXEC to negotiate and energy contract on behalf of your business with the best energy suppliers to ensure you get the best rate possible!
Check the Texas Deregulated Energy Areas map to see if your city or county is serviced by one of the listed Transmission and Delivery Utility Companies. This map has not yet been updated to reflect the city of Lubbock which will include only the LP&L service area beginning in October 2023.
